Seabiscuit Day at Smoke Hollow

Open House Draws 400 Visitors

August 2, 2003 -- To celebrate the opening of the film Seabiscuit, Smoke Hollow Farm hosted a very successful open house today.  An estimated 400 area residents spent a fun family day visiting our American Saddlebred show horses and observing demonstrations given by trainer Roger Kearney of horses in training and riding lessons in progress.  Linda Gemeinhardt and the caretaker staff demonstrated what goes on behind the scenes in preparing and "putting up" the horses.  In addition, teenage author Alexandra Layos joined us for a signing of her book, THE MISSING LINK.

Numerous door prizes were awarded in hourly drawings including several tickets to the film donated by Cinema Plaza in Flemington.  Pony rides were given to many of the younger visitors.  The ride concluded with a picture of the pony and rider which was emailed to them the following day.  The multi-titled and several times world champion, CH Mr. Snuffleupagus performed in the exciting grand finale.  And Alexandra Layos had a surprise dream come true when Doreen Weston asked her to "step aboard".  By the time Alie finished the entire crowd was cheering and applauding.
